BIOGRAPHY
Luigi
di Agostino was born 17.12.67 in Turin, Italy. He is
concidered by many to be the creator of Mediterranean
Progressive. In the beginning of his life he was a bricklayer
and he repaired tennis courts. Already in the 80s he
started being a DJ.
But
in the first 90s he concentrated 100% about his DJ career.
In 1994 his first album, A Journey Into Space, was released.
Later, in 1996, he was in collaboration with Mauro Picotto,
and they made the track Angel's Symphony. Mauro Picotto
and Gigi D'Agostino has as partnership for some years,
but decided to concentrate about them selves.
From 1997
to 1999 he created pieces as Gin Lemon, Your Love (Elisir),
Another Way, Bla Bla Bla, La Passion, The Riddle and
L'Amour Toujours! L'Amour Toujours and Bla Bla Bla are
the only tracks with Gigi which has been really popular in Denmark, and those videoes are
still popular on Danish music TV channels.
In 2000
he released Tecno Fes Vol. 1 and Tecno Fes Vol. 2, which
got really popular. Un Giorno Credi was a popular track
and was played a lot in the Italian clubs. People thought
that a single was coming, but that was never reality.
Although Un Giorno Credi appears on the L'Amour Toujours
E.P. and Tecno Fes Vol. 2.
In 2002
Gigi D'Agostino got ill. He was hidden by hernia, and
had to cancel his "Musikakeparla Tour". He
only made to productions that year, which was remixes
of Shakira and AGO.
In 2003
he was a radio DJ on RIN (Radio Italia Network) with
the show "Il Programmino di Gigi D'Agostino".
This lead to a double CD compilation with the same name.
2003 was also the year when he released his first "Live
At Altromondo" CD. L'Altromondo Studios is Gigi
D'Agostino's favourite discotheque. The second "Live
At Altromondo" was released in 2004.
In 2004
his single Silence arrived with an animated video with
Gigi D'Agostino as a cowboy. Gigi D'Agostino began to
collaborate with other artists again: Molella and Datura.
With Molella he made to single CD's (Con Il Nastro Rosa
and Soleado) and with Datura it was the track Summer
of Energy".
The
same year Gigi D'Agostino began to work with two other
artists. Their names are Luca Noise and DJ Pandolfi.
Together they made projects like La Tana Del Suono and
Officina Emotiva. First time we heard something from
La Tana Del Suono is on the compilation "Live At
Altromondo Part II". The music from La Tana Del
Suono is deep and slow, while Officina Emotiva are mostly
cover songs.
2005 was
not a quiet year. Totally Gigi D'Agostino had 17 releases.
Singles, compilations etc.
Now Gigi
D'Agostino is everywhere - with other aliases: Orchestra
Maldestra, Dottor DAG, Uomo Suono and many more. So
if you see one of these names somewhere you can be sure
it's Gigi D'Agostino who's behind it!
